City Electric Bike Reviews
Smooth or hybrid tires, generic looking frames, utilitarian designs that are efficient and quiet. May include fenders, racks, and lights, or have mounting points to add accessories aftermarket. Great for urban environments and paved surfaces.

Commuting Electric Bike Reviews

Fat Electric Bike Reviews
Tires wider than 3-inches, usually between 4-5. Increased surface area improves traction and float, but adds weight, drag, and noise. Tend to be stable and comfortable. Popular style for casual riding. Great for forest trails, sand, and packed snow.

Environment-themed colors or camouflage paint, fat tires to navigate soft terrain such as loam, marsh, sand, and packed snow. Tend to have mounting points for racks and trailers, use powerful motors, have large batteries. Great for bikepacking and hunting.

Electric Mountain Bike Reviews
Large knobby tires, flat or gently swept back handlebar, usually has suspension elements, narrow efficient saddle, sturdy frame made from light materials such as aluminum alloy, carbon fiber, or titanium. Great for gravel trails, single track, and beyond.

Medium height tire tread, steep head tube angle 70-71°, suspension travel 100mm to 120mm. Tend to be hardtails, relatively light weight, and stiff. Great for smoother off-road conditions with limited drops, bumps, and smaller rocks.

Medium-large height tire tread, slacker head tube angle 68-69°, suspension travel 121mm to 149mm. Tend to be full suspension, can handle steeper descents and larger obstacles. Great balance of performance and weight for recreational mountain biking.

Large height tire tread, slacker head tube angle 65-66°, suspension travel 150mm to 179mm. Always full suspension, can handle serious descents, higher speeds, and large obstacles. Great for enduro racing: climbs and timed descents, more serious riding.

Large height tire tread, slackest head tube angle 63-64°, suspension travel 180mm and above, high performance brakes. Great for long sustained descents with large drops and obstacles, awkward and heavy for climbing and trail riding.

Large platform or box in front or occasionally behind the rider. Very capable of hauling supplies, pets, passengers, or children. May offer locking storage, bench seats, sun or rain canopies. Great for construction hauling or families to see their pets and kids while riding.

Electric Road Bike Reviews
Light efficient frames, taller wheels, aggressive geometry for improved aerodynamics. May offer multiple hand positions, have narrow tires, and limited or no suspension. Great for riding fast on smooth paved surfaces.

Handlebar curves down and back to provide three hand positions: flats, hoods, and drops. Shifters are generally built into brake levers, can only be reached from the hoods. Drop position brings the rider forward and down to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Handlebar is flat or slightly swept back, frame is light and tires are efficient, uses traditional brake levers and shifters that could feel more intuitive or familiar than hoods. May have bar ends to add a second hand position for improved comfort.

Light and efficient, may have flat or drop bars, knobby tires for off-road use may have more air volume for comfort. Great for cyclo-cross, gravel grinding, cobblestone, and light trails. Improved traction, float, and comfort, but less efficient than other road.

One wheel in the front and two wheels in the back, easy to mount and steer, stable at low speed, great cargo hauling potential. Tend to have complex drivetrains and weigh a lot. Great for approachability, rider comfort, and utility if a rear basket is present.

Two wheels in the front and one wheel in the back, very stable turning, tight turning radius. Complex steering may utilize independent bars and require more arm and hand strength. Great for longer rides, use with trailers, improved handling at speed.

Recumbent Electric Bike Reviews
Laid back body position with feet out front, has a seat with a back rest instead of a saddle, improves aerodynamics and rider comfort. May have an adjustable head rest. Often setup as a trike for stability. Great for efficiency, relaxed body position.
