  • AlexZ, good question on IGH vs derailleur to Court. have you asked the general community?
    I’m curious their replies.

I chose IGH & Gates for all the reasons you list, went with Electra Cafe Moto. I can’t imagine why the trouble and noise of derailleur system unless cost or type of bike frame/use overriding concern, forgive the pun.

    Hi AlexZ
The Evelo does offer auto shift and throttle.
with Evelo a waiting period tho shorter than many right now.

As for price, Cafe Moto was available at sale price because so under-rated and poorly marketed. I paid $4k plus tax, had in a week. I can’t speak to suspension issue because I’ve never had it, spouse wants it tho.

Electra must have added $600 to the Cafe Moto's cost recently because that's what they list on their site. I've been looking at Watt Wagons City Commuter (with a 14 speed rohloff). Comes out to $4.6k + tax. But I can't find a bike with all the specs I want for that price. I would like to have the Nuvinci N380 hub, but apparently it can't take the higher 120Nm torque motor this thing pumps out, but the Rohloff can.

So true about the Rohloff; I opted for the “poor man’s Rohloff.” :) If I’d thought my husband wouldn’t kill me, I’d gone for the Riese & Mueller, which can come now with the NuVinci more cheaply around $5800, than the Rohloff at ..what?...$7-9k to start?

Reality check: I liked the flat-foot tech of my former townie so Cafe Moto had that singular charm as well.
