    New ebiker

Welcome from another not young, not in great shape rider! Got my first e-bike this summer and have thoroughly enjoyed exploring new trails. I haven’t transformed into a younger fitter man but I have many more hours being outdoors physically active than in years past. Can’t wait for summer!

Bikers going the wrong direction in bike lanes...

But are those chevrons or are they diamonds? Diamonds just indicate restricted lane, not direction of travel. In the picture posted above, that’s a diamond, not bidirectional chevrons, otherwise the center section would not be there.

Bikers going the wrong direction in bike lanes...

Looking at this picture it appears this street has bike lanes on both sides. And looking at the one in focus, you can see the one directional turning lane painted on it in the background. So I’m thinking bikes in this lane should only be traveling in one direction, and the diamond simply...

    Cruising speed

My speed depends on my surroundings. On public roads I keep it high, 25+. I don’t like to share the roads with cars though so most of my miles are on a very nice network of paved trails. If no pedestrians or slower bikes are present about 17-20 mph is nice on them. But if joggers or other...

I Am Seeing A Lot Of New Ebikes With No Front Suspension

And we’re back to the condescension, judgment, and snobbery.

I Am Seeing A Lot Of New Ebikes With No Front Suspension

There are also people who think they know what’s going on in others heads and judge them as not making informed decisions by claiming they only think they know what they want. It is possible that some of us do know the advantages (and disadvantages) of a rigid fork, are aware of the different...

I Am Seeing A Lot Of New Ebikes With No Front Suspension

I did thousands of miles on a road bike in my younger years, and when I decided to buy an e-bike this year a test rode a bunch. I don’t think the vibration and bumps of an unsuspended fork would prevent me from doing a 50 mile ride, the human body is pretty darn good at handling it. But due to...

    Tire balancing beads?

I have used the beads before in a motorcycle tire. You’re not risking anything by trying them and they won’t harm low speed maneuverability. Just a guess on my part but I don’t think balancing is your problem, I think you have a defect in your tire.

What The Europeans Have Planned For The EMTB World

Honestly, one of the more interesting threads I’ve been on in a long time! Here might be an example to excite the grey matter and get some opinions ebbing and flowing a little more. Clearly some of us are cool with more power, some are not. SO...imagine it’s 2026 and manufacturers are releasing...

What The Europeans Have Planned For The EMTB World

Awesome. I am enjoying it, but don’t want to come across like “that one guy” lol.

What The Europeans Have Planned For The EMTB World

If I came across as argumentative I apologize. My intentions are strictly conversational. I’m new to ebikes, new to off pavement riding, live in central Iowa (no mountains) so no I’m not as badass as you. This reminds me of another very similar situation I was in about ten years ago. Sorry in...

Why are Threads Being Deleted because Someone Complains

Thanks for the reply. It’s such a broad brush topic it can be difficult to understand, or maybe more accurately easy to misunderstand a person’s post. I questioned because I see a lot lately of people claiming censorship and bias when that’s not truth. And the accusations are usually levied...

Why are Threads Being Deleted because Someone Complains

Have you considered the possibility that it’s not everyone else that’s wrong?

What The Europeans Have Planned For The EMTB World

Now it sounds like you are agreeing with me. You want the 85 Nm version, not the 63 Nm equipped. So the question becomes assuming the motors keep getting smoother, quieter, and lighter...if the batteries continue to hold more electricity in smaller lighter batteries...in a few years do you ride...
