ODK U500 - geared hub replacement - which hub works?

Everything is installed now and it's working fine. I only did a short ride, but so far it feels good, with similar ratios to the SRAM. Somehow it seems to ride a little smoother, maybe the Shimano hub has less friction than the SRAM. The gear numbers on the shifter are on the bottom (not...

melted connector on ODK U500 v3

Thanks for the detailed explanation @Reid , that's what must have happened. I will regularly check and clean the connectors going forward.

melted connector on ODK U500 v3

@Luis Mtz thanks for confirming. I somehow have not received any emails from Juiced support in the past week. Can you please resend and/or use my Gmail address 'jepcastelein@*****.com' (fill in 'gmail'). Thanks!

Juiced no longer supporting the ODK U500?

It appears that the wiring harness in the online store is only the 1>4 cable for throttle, display and brake sensors. It doesn't seem to include the controller-motor extension cable :-(

melted connector on ODK U500 v3

A little while ago my motor on ODK U500 stopped working and the problem appeared to be with the connector that comes out of the front hub motor: it was stuck. I managed to pry it apart and it had actually melted internally, likely due to high electrical current since it's never really hot here...

Juiced no longer supporting the ODK U500?

I'm trying to get a new wiring harness because the motor extension cable is busted. However, I'm not hearing back from support. I certainly hope those are still available, it would be a shame to have to trash a 2-year old $4,000+ bike (including accessories) because of a broken cable. I'm also...

ODK U500 - geared hub replacement - which hub works?

I created a ticket with Juiced a week ago but haven't heard back. That probably means that Juiced doesn't know either. My local bike shop called Shimano and they recommend using their 3-speed hub because it's the only hub that comes with a rotary shifter. The 7 and 8-speed hubs come with thumb...

ODK U500 - geared hub replacement - which hub works?

Thanks @Bruce Arnold ! Is this the thread you saw: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/juiced-no-longer-supporting-the-odk-u500.15873/post-145490? Tora confirmed that the SRAM hub is discontinued and mentioned that there were alternatives, however no specifics. I think the Shimano...

ODK U500 - geared hub replacement - which hub works?

The internally geared hub on one of our ODK U500's broke. The SRAM hub is discontinued and parts are unavailable so we are looking to replace the entire hub. Has anyone else done this before and can recommend a specific hub and shifter? I was looking at the Shimano Nexus/Alfine 8-speed (or 7...

ODK & CC: Speed on the flats

I do about 21 mph sustained on the flats with the ODK. I'm sure I could get it to 22 mph pedeling a little harder. Combined with lights, stop signs and slower sections (bumps, turns, etc.) I'm doing about 17 mph average on my 23 miles to work.

    Panniers?

I bought the A2B bags at Electric Bicycle Superstore in San Francisco. Based on the Amazon.com picture, it appears that the Basil Kavan bags have the same attachment mechanism as our A2B bags, so I think it could be a good fit, but I would check the return policy, just in case.

Juiced Bikes ODK U500 V3 Video Review

Does anyone have experience with the 'experimental' lighting system that runs off of the main battery? We now have lights with their own rechargeable batteries and a built-in system seems much more convenient. I'm also curious how theft proof this is. Our current lights from Fortified require a...

    Panniers?

Our A2B bags have side-release buckles, so we haven't had any issue with them flipping open. You could try something like this: http://en.hollandbikeshop.com/bicycle-bags/basil-panniers/basil-double-panniers/basil-double-pannier-kavan-xl-65l-black/. It's cheaper and bigger than ours, but they...

    Panniers?

We've used 3 types of bike bags with the U500. We've used Koki UP1: (Link Removed - No Longer Exists). This is a single bag with clips, so you could fit 2, one on either side. However, one of our 3 U500's had a manufacturing issue with the bike rails: it was too far inward, so the clips couldn't...
