Forward vs. Upright riding for long touring

For the sake of this post, lets say "long" distance is 80 miles in a day. If a rider goes 20mph, then it means sitting on the bike for 4 hours.... Sheesh, seems like a person could double it! But I digress... So, if comfort cruisers are comfortable, would it make sense to enjoy the upright...

Anyone familiar with Wallerang and Riese & Muller?

These companies have a similar looking (but wildly different) bike. The Charger GX from R&M: The M.01 from Wallerang: Has anyone ridden either (or both) of these bikes? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the looks of these (R&M a smidge more ;) ).

    1st ride on Trek w/STePS

So, I just finished a 1.25 hour ride on this bike. Overall, very impressed. Dual Sport+, $3,000 retail, matte black, men's med sized frame. I am a 5'7, 300lb. female. My seat was a smidge low, but since it required a hex wrench to change, I didn't bother. Rented the bike from LBS. Took...

    "With Assist" vs. "E-bike"

Holy smokes, I have now been to 3 bike shops that sell or are thinking about selling ebikes. The first two shops, when I go in and say, "Oh, you have E-bikes!". They say, "These are pedal assist bikes". Didn't think much about it, until I went to shop #3. This shop is thinking about carrying...

    Importance of inseam measurement

Ok, so I mentioned in another thread or two.. 1. I've ridden a hybrid bike for years 2. The thing was a hand killer! 3. Tried some new bikes to figure out something better 4. Tried a Men's large hybrid frame, and it fit! I am a 5'7 female. What the heck? 5. Measured my inseam... 32.5-33...

Rode the BionX for the first time

So far I have only tried 3 ebikes.... 2 Pedegos and a hybrid? bike equipped with a 500w Bionx kit. Loved the Bionx, although couldn't try it out on a hill. The Pedegos didn't feel quite as natural to me. Didn't ride the Pedegos long though, just around the block. Can't wait for the DC expo...

Riese and Muller coming to USA

I emailed Riese and Muller about their bikes and they have confirmed that they are in negotiations with several US stores, and we can expect to start seeing them in early 2017! I also inquired about weight limits. Their bikes have approximately a 250lb. weight limit, except the Charger GH...

Speed linked to PAS level, reviews requests

Ok, so I have noticed several instances where the PAS level limits top speed. This seems like a great way to keep one's speed at a consistent level when he doesn't want to go max speed. Like cruise control. Busy path, wanna limit speed to 10mph, use level 1. Less busy, 13mph, level 2, etc...

Which E-bike has the easiest flat-tire change?

Ok, so everyone talks about speed and distance, bottle bosses, and hills.. I wanna know which bike isnt gonna make me cry when I get a flat when it is dark, raining, and I'm late for my own wedding....

    YOU, the customer.

When you are buying a bike, what seems to be the most important aspect? 1. Motor (power/type/placement) 2. Console ease of use 3. Bike frame/geometry/fit 4. price 5. Visual appeal..color, shape 6. The shop experience (for example you think you want a haibike but the shop only sells trek, so...

    Anyone with a spinal fusion?

Hello all, My 16 year old daughter had a spinal fusion a couple years ago. She can bend her neck and hip, but it is fused all the way in between. Her Dr. said she can ride a bike. She can't twist her torso, and you can imagine how much weight she'd have to hold on her hands if she has to...

    Helix folding bike

Hey I just came across a new startup in Canada. Helix bike is close to full size, and although it isn't electric, they say you can add a 250w hub motor and stay within the warranty. I didn't copy the website but just Google the bike. Seems like an interesting platform for people that want a...

    High wattage ebikes

This has probably been covered, but I haven't seen a thread... I was on another Ebike forum and there were a lot of people talking about having super high wattage on their bikes...like 2000! (Watts, not people). I know it would be fine on private property, but I have a hard time believing...

    Hello from Western Maryland

Howdy all. I've been reading the forum for a couple weeks, and must say, Court's reviews are great! (Even the one with toothberries ;) ) I don't have an ebike yet, but once I can test drive some and save up, I'll be joining your ranks for real. At the moment, the OHM bikes are catching my...
