    Bidet

While there are some nice models with all sorts of features (drying would be awesome), they just dont work my my house (one bathroom doesnt have elongated seat due to space, the other doesnt have convenient power nearby). I use this model...

What are your cold weather ebike limits?

I wear a skiing jacket on the coldest of days(below 40F). Its actually a ice-climbing jacket/shell (mode for upper body mobility). Its a very light nicely sealed goretex jacket with no insulation, lots of venting. I would prefer a more cycling oriented jacket like pearl izumi. While they are...

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

Over the years I have had creaks show up on pretty much every metal to metal surface involved with the seat. Hard to say when/if they will show up but greasing mating surfaces (including bolts) has always solved them with the exception of a ritchey seatpost (probably designed for a light...

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

Its to prevent galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals. For this use case, anti-sieze is better but grease works fine. Did you read the surly link (bike frame manufacturer)?

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

Polish thing perhaps:) Perhaps only needed for those who use throttle. Every seatpost on every bike I have ever bought since 1981 has had the seatpost greased. When ridden in wet environments, I have had seatpost sieze when not maintained as such.

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

Applying grease or anti-sieze to seatposts(metal to metal) is a well understood thing to do and has been as long as I can remember. Every bike maintenance book I have ever read from the 80s on suggests doing it. Not sure why anyone would suggest otherwise. Tons of info on this available on...

    Mid drive ?

I personally tried getting a good bbs02 setup and I tried hard/researched alot on endless-sphere and electricbike.com. In the end, I personally just dont like cadence sensing only. I also prefer to spin(nothing extreme, maybe 100rpm max) when I want power and that seemed the opposite of how...

    Mid drive ?

Indeed good quality hub drive controllers are a unicorn at this point. The fact that all the big 4 are using mid-drives will likely keep them this way. Want to test drive a quality torque based hub drive, try a stromer. Definately the best I have ever ridden(almost bought one). I put about...

    Mid drive ?

Why thanks for so kindly asking, nice to know you care. 6758 miles to be exact, garmin connect doesnt show total elevation but since I ride the same routes which averages 1500ft for 25 miles, simple math would be (6758/25) = number of rides = 270 270*1500ft = 405,480ft Are we in some sort of...

Here are some weight stats for my DIY GMAC build and a Brose Speed Pedelec (iZip Moda E3) which I consider a light ebike DIY GMAC build with 702wh battery - 50# iZip Moda E3 with 500wh battery - 51.5# DIY build has more range for every situation I have used

    Mid drive ?

I will probably never supply strava ride reports as I usually ride my ebikes from my house. I did live in the bay area for 10 years (88-98) and loved MTBing there but I live in Colorado now. I have a few rides in mind in boulder to test the climbing and thermal limits of my GMAC. I have no...

    Mid drive ?

Nobody is disputing this as its pretty obvious. Your conclusions from this (mid drives are better for every situation) are not realistic. Mid-drives are better for every situation yet we cant discuss brands that arent available in Poland?? Your being silly again:rolleyes: Congrats on actually...

    My new Custom GMAC build

So Im at about 700 miles now so its time for some updates. Overall absolutely loving the bike. Definately my most powerful bike and so far has taken everything I have thrown at it. I mostly ride it at 1.5x assist averaging about 200human watts although the extra power is nice when required...

Thats awesome, where did you get that graph from. That being said, the efficiency of the hub drives(geared and DD) would depend on the KV rating of the motors(rpm/volt). The mid-drive, notsomuch as you can control the motor speed thru gearing which is a HUGE advantage of mid-drives (gearing...

    Mid drive ?

No arguments there, my Brose Speed Pedelec will do 28mph, just takes ALOT more effort than my higher wattage hub drives. I also use a 50t on my acoustic FS MTB, no debate there. To require it while under assistance with an eMTB would be quite a steep hill indeed and would likely exceed my MTB...

    Mid drive ?

For those interested in playing with the grin motor simulator and trying mid drive vs hub drive, there is a really good thread on endless sphere about it. How to use the motor simulator isnt always obvious (Im still pretty clueless) https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100461
