Ebiker01- I have not used the map routes on the Nyon, so can't answer which is better. My guess is that Garmin is since they have been at it longer. antboy - Interesting stats you provided for the Schwalbe Marathon E-Plus tires being 3 lbs each. They are also wide at 2.15. I will most likely...

Rear rack bag to carry Yamaha battery?

Regarding the Brooks saddle; This is my second one and it is by far the most comfortable seat I have ever used. I can spend 12 hours a day in the saddle day after day and not feel any pain or discomfort. Since riding on a Brooks, I have given up using padded shorts. There is no need for the...

Rear rack bag to carry Yamaha battery?

I have a Giant Road-E with Yamaha motor. The Arkel tail rider trunk works well for carrying a spare 500 watt battery for the Yamaha motor. Fits perfectly.

High Mileage - How do you do it?

That is a nice ride, I have heard of 16-18% grades. I don't think I could pedal up that even with assist. Beautiful scenery.

High Mileage - How do you do it?

Accurate and detailed Information displayed to the rider in one form or another is key to helping the rider manage the battery life and achieve higher milage. I have seen and heard about displays that provide next to nothing. An example is a display that shows 4 bars representing battery...

High Mileage - How do you do it?

Rincon, answering your question "...no lunch stop, no opportunity to recharge the battery?" On the Pacific Coast route, there are many opportunities (Starbucks, etc). Its one thing to charge your phone while at coffee houses and cafes but I think its kind of forward to plug in a big ass 500...

High Mileage - How do you do it?

I'm one of the guys with the post of high milage (116 on charge), in fact yesterday I posted my trip results "Touring on a Giant Road-E" I believe the major factors are: 1. Yamaha 250 Watt mid drive motor - this setup must be pretty efficient. I can't speak to other manufactures but this is...

    Touring on a Giant Road-E

Mr Coffee, I also do the rental car route. I rent a compact SUV (one way) drive me and the bike to the stating point, drop off the car and begin the ride. The cost of this is unpredictable, sometimes its cheap as the rental agency may need cars delivered to the area I'm going, but sometimes...

    Touring on a Giant Road-E

Dave the motor is the Yamaha 250 watt Syncdrive sport. This system has the 3 modes, Eco, Normal and Power. I never use the power mode, spend as much time as I can in Eco and use Normal sparingly.

    Mileage on Giant Road-e

The best I have done is 116 miles on a charge with the Giant Road-E. 85-90 miles is my average per charge. When riding do you always have the motor turned on, or do you sometimes turn it off. Yesterday I finished a 550 mile tour (5 day) from San Francisco to Orange County Ca via Coast highway...

    Mileage on Giant Road-e

136 miles is excellent ! To achieve this you must be putting in a significant effort. I too have a Giant e-bike. now with close to 3,000 miles. I have posted here on my experience with milage on a single charge. I routinely achieve 85-90 mostly in Eco. My best is 116 miles per charge. This...

Giant - Please build a Road-E touring edition

Drew The battery technology does exist today in the form of the new 21700 cell. The 21700 cell is what Tesla is using in the new model 3. Samsung, Panasonic and now Tesla are all producing it. The 21700 cell is close to the same footprint as the current 18650 cell but provides (I have read) up...

Giant — if your listening... Build a Road-E touring edition. I have a Road-E and I have set it up for touring. But Giant you could improve the bike with a few small enhancements. The good - Yamaha 250 Watt motor. The computer display showing percent remaining is very good and seems...
