I rode a Sirrus for 5 years before myTurbo Vado SL 4.0. After 2.5 years still love the SL but I just got back from a test drive of the new Sirrus X5.0 in a medium frame. Can’t get over how lightweight it is. If it wasn’t for the 20mph head wind I might have been tempted to switch back to the Sirrus.

Go for the new one with warranty. My 2.5 year old Vado SL 4.0 needed a new motor after 11,000 miles. Luckily I was at the end of my 2 year warranty and my local bike shop replaced it and is good to go.

I thought this might be a good replacement for my 2.5 year old Turbo Vado SL 4.0. But now I don’t think so. A 2023/2024 Turbo Vado SL will probably be the best choice. Thanks Chris.

A few months ago Rene from Rider Care said they had no plans for a belt drive Turbo Vado SL at the moment. A belt drive system would make me want to upgrade from my 2.5 year old Vado SL 4.0 which has also been fantastic, on my second motor now.

My recent thinking is that a belt drive is also the only way to go in any future eBike because it doesn’t need any maintenance. Except that if you pair it with say a Rohloff hub. Rohloff recommends changing the oil at least every 3000 miles, or once a year. That would have been 2 oil...

It turns out the UBN Five is not in stock at my local Riese & Müller bike shop and they have never heard of this eBike.

Would another option be to buy a new Vado at a 35% discount? My lbs suggested this when I needed a new motor replacement on my Vado SL that was 2 years old? Unfortunately Specialized approved the new motor before I could check this option out. I was concerned I might have to buy a new battery...

Just talked to my local Riese & Müller dealer and he doesn’t have any UBN Five in stock and he has never even heard of this eBike model. So sounds like it hasn’t been released in the states yet?
