So I finally finished my project(new battery, display, controller. Turn it on and display works, lights, but no power from the 250W Bafang motor. No throttle, pas, or walk mode. Have KT controller with LCD8S display and Yose 36V 12a battery. Sure would like to get it going. Any thoughts?

Are brake switches connected, and maybe the brake cable is slack? Or if they are connected, when you squeeze the brakes, does the brake symbol flash on the LCD. as show below. Then you know that the controller is communicating with the LCD8H.

These KT displays only need power/ground to come up, and if the connector is faulty, you can't tell if they are talking to the controller. Looking for the brake indicator is about the simplest, becasue it's hard to wire that wrong.

Wow, what a good recommendation. I was not even using the brake handles that came in the kit, because I have a nice set of hydraulic disc brakes that were already on the bike. The two 3 pin red Julet were connected to my front and rear lights. When I hooked them up to the two brake handles from the kit, it came alive. Walk mode and throttle now working(too late to try out pedal assist). So, I guess this means I will have to use the new brake handles and give up the hydraulic oil filled handles? In first picture, kit handle is in my hand.

You can buy cables with magnetic sensors. You glue (epoxy) the cable to your handle and glue the magnet somewhere. I've done that. It's not as bad as it sounds because I have them underneath the lever where no one can see them. Or maybe you can pull the switch out of the kit levers, but they probably won't be magnetic and use contact switches. Personally, I rely on the brake cutoffs on my ebikes for engine control.
