Don't think PEEK gears are available for the Ultra. There is a thread over on the Wattwagon section that addresses this issue.

jgreen92 the Ultra motor I don't believe can be programed to "Ghost Pedal " so you have to put the effort into it to get the benefit.

Can you provide a link to info on PEEK being used in the new Ultra? I’m curious also about your info on the the CANbus and Bafang Go.

It's either on the 'm500/m600' thread on the emtb site or endless sphere, iirc it was @pushkar informing us via what he was being told for his motors.

The bafang go app is available now on the app stores and the new canbus stuff is on bafangs site https://bafang-e.com/en/products/displays/

Haystacks, unless something has changed, that "canbus stuff" is only available for sale to dealers. Further, updates to the older UART software are just about as easy as hooking you bike up to a laptop. There's NO reason updates can't be downloaded and installed using current software.

For DIY consumers, I'd really like to hear about any upside to the CAN bus. This is about money - for the dealers. They want that software locked down so we have to see them about any changes.

My hope is they'll break this CAN bus code like they did the UART, soon.

Any PEEK gear news is not relevant to the Ultras. In fact, I believe it was Pushcar who convinced Bafang to install metal gears in the Ultras, with little regard for those with no interest pushing the Ultras to their limits with fancy EXPENSIVE controllers.

I am pretty sure Luna did that first when they started breaking gears :)

Whoever it was, when the facts come out, I think you'll find they never did break or melt a gear, until they started pushing wattage WELL in excess of the Bafang ratings.....

Of course that is why they broke, and why they wanted an option for a stronger gear. Not sure what your point is.
People wanted more power, and the solutions for more power required stronger gear, and Bafang provided it.
Everyone happy :)

But sure it would be nice if Bafang made the old Nylon gear available for those who would prefer it...

Bafang have gone 100% CANbus, their CEO IIRC announced uart is dead long live canbus a long time ago and said from 2021 it will all be canbus, their new motors M200, M500, M600, M800 are CANbus RIGHT NOW, M620 will BECOME CANbus from this year.

BESST, i can buy right now, the guys picking it apart are consumers not shops, they too bought BESST. They are all over canbus, again right now i can download and install a local version (lives on my hard drive) and program BESST without a bafang account.

gen 3 ultra will be peek like lunas silent gear

Oh and btw in another thread you declared M620 is the motors designated name, M620 is a grouping of products including the G510 (aka Ultra) motor, DPC 18 screen ETC.

Could you imagine if, instead they fitted PEEK? Now that'd be something eh. ;)

You need to keep up with whats going on. Bafang have gone 100% CANbus, their CEO IIRC announced uart is dead long live canbus a long time ago and said from 2021 it will all be canbus, their new motors M200, M500, M600, M800 are CANbus RIGHT NOW, M620 will BECOME CANbus from this year.

gen 3 ultra will be peek like lunas silent gear

Oh and btw in another thread you declared M620 is the motors designated name, once again wrong, M620 is a grouping of products including the G510 (aka Ultra) motor, DPC 18 screen ETC.
My focus, and the topic of this string, are regarding ULTRA's....

My point-
For every 1 person that has ANY interest in a hot rodded, no warranty Ultra, there are 500 more with NO interest, and they now get to listen to what could have been a quiet motor - just like the earlier BBSXX motors that are equipped with, and not having trouble with their composite gears. For me it would have made much more sense if Bafang had stuck with the composite gear they had (stock with early G510's), and the guys that broke them, or were concerned with braking them, could buy and install a metal gear.

Let me know when you've ridden an Ultra with a composite gear. Or maybe supply a link from Bafang introducing that motor?

Please educate me. Are you willing to share the link to the free BESST CAN bus editing software that requires no license? You know this software is going to work on Ultra's w/Can bus how? I didn't know any Ultra's had made it state side yet? Or are you speaking of something that works on the smaller motors?

The difference M620 vs G510 is about the early 510's that came with composite gears. Only the LATER G510 product with steel gears are the same as the M620. -Al

Blah, Blah, Blah. Bullshit, Bluff and Bluster. Bollocks and more bollocks -Al

As you claim the focus of this thread is the Bafang G510 motor then lets initially do that and go to "ULTRA" 101 - Bafang Nomenclature.

Bafang use a system of groupings of products required to create a fully functional ebike, they call these "Drive Systems". These "Drive Systems" are composed of the core components required to build an ebike; At a minimum each "Drive System" contains a motor, display and sensors. Accessories such as pedals, motor covers etc are also within this grouping. Each "Drive System" begins with a letter, "M" indicates a "Mid Motor" (a mid motor is a motor which is mounted on the bottom bracket of a bicycle or in the area where the bottom bracket usually resides), "H" indicates it is a "Hub Motor" (a "Hub Motor" is a motor which replaces the "Hub" on a standard bicycle wheel, can be either "Front Hub" or "Rear Hub"

The "ULTRA" or to give it the correct name MM G510.750/1000.C (750/1000 denotes which variant in Watts) belongs to "Drive System" M620

"Drive System" M620 comprises:-

Motor - MM G510.750/1000.C
Display - DP C18.UART
Battery - BT F04.600.C
Sensor - SR SD021.01
Crank arms - CK B11.170
Motor Cover - AC M08
Mounting Bracket - FP G510

Nope, clear as mud. Let's start here-

" As you claim the focus of this thread is the Bafang G510"

Maybe you should look up a bit to see what it really is?

Then, there's the missing link for the software you said everyone was raving about? You sounded pretty familiar with it, and claim to have a copy on your hard drive. If that's the case, why not share it?

And here-
"Drive System" M620 comprises:-
Motor - MM G510.750/1000.C
Display - DP C18.UART
Battery - BT F04.600.C
Sensor - SR SD021.01
Crank arms - CK B11.170
Motor Cover - AC M08
Mounting Bracket - FP G510

The idea that all of us received that "package" when we bought out Ultra M620's is unlikely. Many of us have purchased M620's recently that did not come with that battery, or those crank arms at minimum.

I believe you were misinformed.

Lad, i think you will find it is you, your village is looking for you.

At some point you are going to have to accept you were wrong, if it softens the blow lets use misinformed; i can be charitable.
Bafang may offer that package, but if you look at what is actually sold/delivered with a new bike, you'll find it's not even close to how many are delivered. Just look at the that battery! And there isn't a Fatty anywhere delivered with that crank set.

As I'm sure you don't own one and are simply repeating information you've read on the internet, that you think you understand but don't, I'll offer that Bafang may offer that package, but if you even take a half hearted look at what is actually sold/delivered with a new bike, you'll find it's not even close to how many are delivered. Just look at the that battery! And there isn't a Fatty anywhere delivered with that crank set.

As a self confessed rookie collecting info, you should consider there are times to talk, and times to listen. You seem to have those confused?

Tactful way of putting what I was thinking. I'm done.

Haystacks, you are officially ignored!

My replies were not intended to teach you anything, it was to make sure that the casual observer wasn't misinformed.

I've got a G060 1000w, BBSHD tuned to 1500w and a G510 (M620 "Drive System" actually) on the way with a carbon FAT frame with THOSE crank arms.
