Battery breakthrough?

Every so often news of next level battery technology makes the news cycles. Most are little more than concepts that are strictly lab experiments but perhaps this graphene-Li battery will happen? At potentially 2.5 times the energy density in the same size enclosure it would be a benefit for eBikes as well as all e based systems. Here’s to hoping!

From the article.
"The Bike Europe expert, who for now wants to remain anonymous, informs that there’s now “One manufacturer that is a lot further with the Graphene-Lithium nano technology. Samples are already available for individual testing.

Unfortunately, this is low grade journalism. The lack of details in this article is astonishing!
Most companies, if they do credible inventions, they will be all over the media. That is how they attract funding from top-quality venture capitalists. This one, it's not....
Graphene is going to be used in the anode side but anode is not the bottle neck in batteries. It is the cathode.

If there was any truth to it, companies like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Tesla would pour in all their money into this technology. Tesla's gigafactory is world's largest battery producer for 21700 cells. Their R&D is truly testing every kind of cell out there. They recently acquired Maxwell technologies. these guys know what is going to be good for the commercial product way before it even makes it to the trade shows.

Well I did say perhaps....thanks for the insight Ravi.
No worries. This article has elicited excitement in the E-bike community and a friend of mine is eagerly looking fwd to check them out at the Eurobike.

The truth is, if someone does a breakthrough invention, auto manufacturers will be lining up at their door.
Normally, the company post their charge/discharge curves under the product category and # cycles vs capacity data. Once a battery pack retains >90% capacity after 1000 cycles, auto manufacturers will line up.

How many times have we read manufacturers claiming 130 mile range on a 500 whr pack?! ... it is one of those kind of articles :)
