Beware the Specialized "Warranty"

I read the Specialized Forum here.
From my personal experience, a Specialized dealer in Warsaw has rebuilt my 2017 Vado 5.0 to replace the older BLOKS display with the modern TCD-W one. In reality, it meant dismantling half of the bike and replacing many parts including horn, lights (Supernova M99 Pro worth US$550 alone as well as a Supernova tail-light), a new rack etc etc. All these changes were necessary to maintain Euro S-Pedelec certification for 2020. Guess what I paid for the overhaul?

Zero.

A killer machine, eh? :)

So you pay 50+% more for the bike than it's worth upfront and then when they have to make necessary repairs under warranty you feel like you're ahead of the game. And that is only if the dealer near you is respectable . Got it.👍

Very close to a successful business plan. But closer to 100 per cent markeup needed over putting some parts that should work together and shipping it ...

Similar experience here in the U.S. with my 2018 Vado 6.0

And later, after I purchased a Specialized Creo and listed the Vado for sale, folks were lined up to buy it.

Spesh seems to be leading the way...
