Yep that is a hole in the making on the tire side of the tube. All my tube punctures have come from the head of the spokes have a burr on them. 6 flats in 1800 miles. Polished the nut heads with a dremel 500 miles ago, and have not had a flat since. I think excessive tire pressure caused at least two of those flats.
To each his own, but I can't really even imagine how you could have bad luck with Slime (or similar products). What can go wrong?? It is more difficult with Presta valves, and I've heard of people claiming it clogged their valves. In my experience I don't see how that's possible, especially to the point that it can't just be blown our or cleaned out by pulling valve core and maybe pushing a stick or something through the stem. There are people who say it's happened to them but with respect, I have to doubt they couldn't have easily resolved the issue.
Ha, well, I might have the same attitude if that happened to me! Of course other brands of tire sealant aren't as brightly colored.
I agree with AHicks though, the odds against that happening again are probably astronomical -- it's the first I've ever heard of it happening even once. Weird things can happen. If all those one-offs caused everyone to quit doing whatever they were doing no one would ever do anything again!
Check your spoke heads in the rim for burrs.
Of course, hate to resurrect an old thread, some claim laundry starch will do the job on tires, has anyone done it?
