CX gen 4 motor powers on its own without assistance - you’d think Bosch would want that motor back ASAP

Trek Rail 5 with about 800 miles, threw codes 500, 550; Trek reset it, took a test ride, and sent me on my way. On test ride of my own at home motor kept doing its thing after I stopped pedaling, threw a code 513. Freaky. Took a video, brought bike to Trek … that was 10 days ago, they’re waiting to hear back from Bosch after providing logs, diagnotics, etc. You’d think they would swap a motor with a mind of its own as a matter of course. When my employer’s gear poses a safety threat to our customers me move pretty damn quick.

500Internal error in the drive unitRestart the system. If the problem persists, contact your Bosch eBike dealer.

550An improper load was detected.Remove the load. Restart the system. If the problem persists, contact your Bosch eBike dealer.

513 relates to a cadence sensor inside the motor.

I googled that Bosch code number and went to an e-mountain bike forum/post which mentioned the 513 code.
I couldn't find it in the regular listed Bosch codes either.

How are you sure they want to swap the motor? Seems as likely that they can send a new circuit board to fix it just as well.

I don't think Bosch ever sends just parts unless it's just a seal or bearing issue. They usually send a replacement drive unit and take the old one back, presumably to refurbish or salvage.

Sounds what some automotive parts manufacturers do these days - you can only buy refurbished altenators, starters etc. not parts to fix one, Oh wait, Bosch makes these things too...

That was before the pandemic and incredible demand. Both of us are just guessing.

Sure. Since we're not Bosch techs all we can do is make our best guess based on our experiences and knowledge.
I'm pretty comfortable with my guess given it's based on having to get my Bosch drive unit replaced after it threw the same code 500(among others) during the pandemic.
