Di2 for e-bikes? Really?

I have a GRX 812 kit on my Cannondale Lefty 3, which shifts fine, but I find some of the downshifts to a smaller cog to be really 'clunky'. I also have Di2 on my carbon road bike and the shifting is considerably smoother.
I'm in the process of switching my Cannondale from drop bars to straight bars (in an attempt to alleviate my hand numbness) and considered upgrading to Di2, but after totalling up the cost, compared to going with Deore XT, I decided to go with the Deore T kit.
Di2 is very nice, but I couldn't justify spending that much more, especially on a 1x11 setup.
