E-Motion Evo Cross or Nitro Cross

Still on my search for my E-Bike.

Evo Cross, nice looking machine, 20 mph top speed and 45 mile range.

Nitro Cross, Better looking, 28 mph 35 mile range

I'm finding hard to find local dealers that have both in stock to compare, any one test road both and can offer some real world feed back on torque, speed, range and overview.

Ignoring the price, would you choose one over the other and why.

I really like the Nitro look, if it had the range of the Evo it would be a no brainier.

I'm planning to ride mostly bike paths for fun, no commuting. I like speed who doesn't?, but think range may be more important.

Any dealers around New England that have these both in stock ?

thanks in advance

I assume the Nitro, like my previous Neo Xtrem, is pedal assist only past 20mph? If all is being equal you can get either bike for a similar price the Nitro will be the more enjoyable option to ride if you like more getup and want to pedal a long to go faster. If you tone your riding back these bikes will end up with very similar range - both batteries have almost the exact same total watt hours. You spend more of the battery energy at higher speeds though, which is likely the reason it is rated at 35 miles and the cross at 45 miles.

If you do pedal assist and ride between 15 and 20mph, the total range for these bikes would be very similar. From a value perspective if you are expecting to pay around/close to MSRP for either bike the Cross makes the most sense.

Mr. Potter:

Almost everyone in the know says that the EVO is the better value proposition. The power gained from the 500W is very nominal and the 9A battery will give you much lower range. My Neo Carbon has the EVO motor and battery. I get assist up to 23mph and have a failsafe range of 30 miles in any mode. The cost difference is substantive between the two models.

Go ride them! Make it a day trip if you have to go a little further. Ride some other brands and models also!
