Mission Control App with Strava & Beacon - New Thread

Within the Mission Control app settings for optional 'trackers' like Strava & Komoot have 'auto upload' off or on.
If I have it slid to 'on' (Strava) and 'auto start' is also active/turned on in settings on MC (I'm assuming the 'auto-start' in the settings screen of MC means that the MC app will auto start when the bike is powered on), do I not need to manually begin the 'start' of my ride or if so then what is 'auto start'?
Then, within Strava is 'Beacon' which allows recipients of your choosing to get real time data as to your stats, location, etc. from Strava.
However you must start the ride with the Strava app to have the recipient get the Beacon notification and it appears that even though the Strava app is tied to the Mission Control app from the settings of MC, by just normally starting the ride no Beacon notifications are sent.
So, if the MC app is setup with 'auto start' turned on does that mean I just turn on the bike and ride and do nothing else and it's automatically on the MC app and the Strava app?
And if I want to use the Beacon functionality of Strava, do I need to start both apps?
Today, I stopped after 3 miles and turned on the Strava app (start ride) and the Beacon recipient got the notification and data, but now I have 2 rides on Strava of the same ride, one at 3 miles less but both are the same ride.
I know it sounds confusing, as it is to me, but I'm curious if I need to ask someone in Strava or Specialized these questions.....but beforeI do, I'm reaching out HERE first to see if anyone may have the answers.

If you set MC to auto upload to Strava it’ll send your ride stats to Strava when you end the ride in MC. There is no real time updating of Strava. So you will have to have both apps running to make use of the “In ride” features in both.

OK, so then that would mean duplicates in Strava that need to be managed and one of the 2 deleted or live with doubles?
I have open tickets with both Strava and Specialized asking the same questions.
One might think that if the MC app partners or allows connectivity to Strava, and you have specific settings in Strava that it would carry over and enable the feature so both would not need to be run at the same time. Makes sense?
So if there is no real time updating in Strava any idea why the 'Beacon' feature provides realtime data to the recipient?
Hopefully either Strava or Specialized will offer some insight, as it's very confusing.
Thanks for you input.

For Beacon to work Strava needs to be running. Not sure you’ll have much luck with Strava offering insight.

I have an Apple Watch and would like to use it for HRM and reporting in Strava. The Strava watch app does not integrate or talk to the Strava phone app and therefore the phone app cannot get heart rate info from the watch. If I use both the watch and phone apps at the same time I land up with duplicate activities in Strava. Strava has no ability to combine them. I was told by Strava that there is a 3rd party utility to do this. On a desktop you have to export both activities, run these exported files through the utility and reimport, then delete the original activities. Too much work!

'Too much work"!
AGREED!!

Any idea what that was?

I’ve been significantly annoyed by this issue since I realized Specialized didn’t realize it was now a computer company and Strava didn’t seem amenable to improving the operability of their apps so that the data it’s users relied upon was valid.

Then I remembered that even though smart phones have been around for a while now, they’re still in the early stages of functional ubiquity. By this I mean that the companies are all more interested in their own market share and similar concerns than in working together to truly meet the needs of their customers.

Sadly, by the time they figure it out, a new technology will have emerged that supersedes phones and all 5he companies chase the latest shiny object.
