Problems with Lishui controller 48V 1000W (G3M20211-1592-16 / LSW1207-2-4)

Hello everybody, this is my first post here and I imagine it will transpire from the following text... I have an old electric mountain bike, trying to fix problems. I get error 24, the motor does not run and cannot find a solution. The manual of my M5 display does not even envisage error 24, which I was told may be ascribed to cabling problems. There is no apparent damage to the cabling. Sporadically, the motor works for a few minutes with no apparent problem but eventually the problem reoccurs. I disconnected the brake sensors but no change. Suspect the controller itself may be defective. Unfortunately, I never got the manual for the controller and I am not 100% sure about the wiring setting, even if it is not impossible to reconstruct. Lishui no longer produces that model, even if I see pictures on the net of similar controllers, with same label but no indication about the producer. I saw here threads about this controller and wonder if anybody can assist, or suggest a shop where I can find a replacement that will not require complete rewiring. So far I only found a shop in Australia, but it does not ship overseas. To sum up, my request is for advice about fixing error 24, a wiring diagram for the controller, and possible source for replacement. Many thanks

The fact you have it working sporadically would give me all the encouragement I need to proceed for sure!

Rather than trying to get your head wrapped around the entire system, I would suggest you consider troubleshooting each component separately.

Consider that there are not really that many components. You have a couple of brake light sensors (already tested), your PAS sensor, a display, the battery, the motor, the wire harness, and the controller. Controllers and displays are difficult to test, but the rest of the components can each be tested separately. If they all check out, you have a harness issue, or you have a controller issue. Do yourself a favor and avoid just throwing parts at it to see if that fixes it. That's generally a frustrating lesson.

You have eliminated the possibility of bad connections between the different sections of the wire harness, by having inspected ALL connections, from the front to the rear?
You have confirmed you have a fully charged battery with a voltmeter? The proper voltage available to the controller, measured at the controller battery connection with a volt meter?

Thanks for the wise advice. I'll proceed step by step and share the results.

Just from a little googling... but on another Lishui controller Error 24 was "Abnormal hall signal of motor"...

Might be worth investigating further. Might be as simple as the magnet has fell off your wheel (if it had one!)....

Yup, saw the same thing. Although I'm not familiar with the process to check the hall sensors, I know there is one, and I would head to YouTube to find it - or gather more info.

If you're not in a rush and have 15 bucks laying around, buy an ebike tester from China. I see that there must be spot shortages as some sellers are asking 40-50 dollars for similar units.

Connect it to your motor cable, Spin the wheel. One LED will flash for each hall sensor.

Thanks. I ordered it. It will arrive in a couple of weeks...
