Thoughts on LED spoke lights

As someone who rides at night in a big city, LED spoke lights are intriguing. How much weight to they add? What about reliability and brightness? If anyone has thoughts or suggestions they would be appreciated. Thanks!

this one is stated at <100g per unit..

£2.59 30% Off | Bicycle Motorcycle Bike Tyre Tire Wheel Lights 32 LED Flash Spoke Light Lamp Outdoor Cycling Lights For 24 Inches Wheel

this one probably similar..
£0.83 20% Off | 25#14 LED Motorcycle Cycling Bicycle Bike Wheel Signal Tire Spoke Light 30 Changes

of course these only work in motion, so little use when waiting at road junctions

how long they would last in inclement weather is anyone’s guess, but they are cheap enough to trial , if they work for you then better safe than sorry 😀

That looks great, but Be Careful. If those come loose and get caught in the chain or anywhere you could be down ,in traffic, at night, too fast for a driver to even notice you. 2 cents.

@fooferdoggie You have strip lights on the tandem's frame, not the wheels, IIRC. I like the idea of putting lights in the wheels, but concerned about attaching securely, so the frame is probably best if I decide to really ride in the dark. Something I hope to avoid at my age.

these zip tie they even come with metal zip ties. the battery zip ties to the hub. I have had them for several years. yes I have them on the tandem then the light I posted on the wheels of both bikes. but ya if your not in the dark no lights will really do much the decorative ones that is. none are very bright in anything but mostly dark.

Monkey LED Lights are the best for night time visibility...These arent just one color, they have cool designs you can choose from and they come to life when you get some speed. The designs really pop out and stand out when you are riding around...lots of looks and compliments. They attach to the spoke easily and installation is a breeze.

I thought about these a little more today , decided to get one from a UK supplier. I think they will be a good addition to my teenage sons road bike as he’s often nipping between friends houses in the dark evenings. If it keeps him visible for a month or so i’ll be happy. I’ll report back.

I ended up ordering these. I'll post a review after a bit of use. - Thanks again to all for the recommendations.
my only complaint its a hassle to get the battery box on and a bit of a hassle to unscrew and screw it. I just use it on the front wheel to save the hassle of the back. whats great about them is if your ride starts when it is dark or light and changes they come on on their own. they flash red when your done and the batteries are low.
