Founded in 1884, Piaggio worked in the boat, rail, and aerospace industries eventually launching Vespa in 1946 after WWII in Italy. They have manufacturing facilities around the world. The main headquarters are in Pisa. The electric bicycle line was launched in 2014 and is manufactured in Italy with technical partners including Continental which does the electronics dashboard, fenders, and belt system, Samsung is a battery partner and NuVinci is a drivetrain partner. The motor is a proprietary design and is shared between models.
