Biktrix, founded in 2014 in Saskatoon, Canada, has built a solid reputation for producing powerful and customizable e-bikes – ergo their affection for the name ‘Juggernaut’. Their focus on allowing riders to tailor their bikes to specific needs sets them apart in a market often dominated by more generic options.
With that in mind, I approached the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 with high expectations. Afterall, the bike has a 1000W Bafang motor with a huge 160 Nm of torque and a wide range of available upgrades, making it an intriguing option for anyone looking for a versatile and powerful e-bike.
In this review, I’ll dive into the details of my experience with the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4, exploring its performance, features, and whether it lives up to the reputation Biktrix has cultivated over the years.
My Experience Riding The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 E-Bike
When it comes to the looks, the bright yellow color we received for testing definitely stands out, but if this isn’t your taste, you’ve got plenty of choices—over 100, in fact—so you can customize the bike to suit your taste. While some paint options do have a fee, just know whether you want something subtle or something that really pops you do have several options.
The geometry and riding position of the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 strike a nice balance. It’s a hybrid setup, with a bit of an upright stance but a slight forward lean that feels comfortable, especially with the adjustable stem. You can easily tweak the A-bar handlebar to get a fit that works for you. The Wren Sports suspension seatpost, wide cushioned seat, and front Wren Sports suspension fork all work together with the geometry to deliver a ride that’s comfortable whether you’re on pavement or tackling rougher trails.
Now, about that Bafang 1000W mid-drive motor with 160 Nm of torque. On paper, those numbers scream power, and while it does deliver fast speeds—I hit close to 40 mph, topping out around 38 mph—it’s not the instant surge you might expect. The power delivery is more gradual, which I think is intentional. With a mid-drive motor, the drivetrain and chain take on a lot of stress, so this more measured ramp-up likely helps reduce wear and tear on the components. In the long run, that’s a smart move, but it’s important to set your expectations accordingly—understand how the power comes on, and you’ll appreciate the bike more.
Speaking of speed, this bike can exceed 30 mph easily, so make sure you’re aware of the legality and local laws for riding an unrestricted e-bike in your area. It’s not meant for bike paths unless those paths allow for higher speeds. If you’re limited on where you can ride, you have the option to cap the bike at 20 mph when you purchase. For my testing, I took advantage of local public lands where higher speeds are allowed and stuck to city roads and paths for anything under 20 mph.
The suspension setup on the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is impressive. The standard fork is an RST Guide with 80mm of travel and lockout, but we got the upgraded Wren Sports 150mm inverted air fork, which offers positive and negative air chambers, along with rebound, damping, and lockout adjustments. This fork, combined with the suspension seatpost, really smooths out the ride. Even on rough, rocky trails here in Utah, the bike felt fast and flowy, even at close to 30 mph.
Overall, once you get used to how the power is delivered, the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is a blast to ride. It’s fast, fun, and comfortable, whether you’re cruising on the road or hitting the trails. Just be aware that all this power does come with a trade-off—battery drain. You can still cover a good distance, but it’s something to keep in mind. We’ll dive into the range in the next section, but for now, it’s safe to say this bike delivers a ride that’ll leave you grinning.
Range
Estimated Range (from Biktrix): 45 miles
The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 comes with a standard battery setup of 910Wh (52v, 17.5Ah), which the brand advertises as providing a range of up to 45 miles. In addition, the Duo Series currently includes a free range extender battery, adding another 884Wh (52v, 17Ah) to the mix. Together, these two batteries offer a substantial increase in overall range, which is a smart move by Biktrix given the bike’s power demands.
On its own, the 910Wh battery delivering around 45 miles might seem a bit underwhelming, especially considering the bike’s high-powered 1000W motor. With this motor, heavy throttle use or tackling challenging off-road terrain can quickly drain the battery, leaving you with a range that could easily dip below 20 miles in some conditions. This is likely why Biktrix includes the additional battery as part of the package; without it, the range might be a turnoff when compared to the rest of the e-bike landscape – albeit very different use cases.
That said, when you factor in the dual battery setup, the range becomes much more practical. For most riders, the combined range is sufficient for a day of off-road fun or a week of daily commutes and casual rides. While the advertised 45 miles might not be groundbreaking, it’s generally enough for the kind of high-powered riding this bike is built for. The free range extender battery essentially alleviates what could have been a significant downside, ensuring that the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 remains a versatile and appealing option for those who need both power and range.
Power (Motor & Battery)
The motor on the Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is a beast—1000W with 160 Nm of torque is the most powerful setup I’ve seen on an e-bike, and it delivers speeds I’ve never reached before.
While you might expect this kind of power to kick in like a rocket, the reality is a bit more nuanced. The power delivery is more measured, especially at lower speeds, and I think this is by design to preserve the drivetrain and other components. With a motor this powerful, the stress on the chain, cassette, and gears could be significant if all that power hit at once. The more gradual ramp-up helps mitigate wear and tear, which is great for the longevity of the bike, though it does mean the initial acceleration isn’t as aggressive as the specs might suggest.
The motor uses a torque sensor, which means the power assist is tied directly to your pedaling effort. Pedal lightly, and the motor gives you a gentle assist; pedal harder and faster, and the bike responds with more power and speed. This makes for a more natural riding experience, as the assist feels like an extension of your own effort rather than an overpowering force. There are two main modes—Eco and Sport—with 0-5 levels of pedal assist within each mode, allowing you to fine-tune the ride to your preference.
One feature I really appreciate is the motor disengagement sensors on both the brake and shifting levers. These sensors cut the motor when you brake or shift gears, which not only preserves the life of the components but also adds a layer of safety. The last thing you want is the motor pushing you forward when you’re trying to stop.
Once you get the bike going, it has the power and speed to impress. But all this power does come with some responsibility—especially when it comes to battery life. The Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 comes with a standard 52V, 17.5Ah (910Wh) battery, and there’s also a free range extender second battery option at 52V, 17Ah (884Wh). This setup provides plenty of juice, but keep in mind that the more you push the motor, the faster you’ll drain the battery.
The bike comes with a standard 2-year warranty on the complete bike, motor, and battery, which is pretty typical. You can also opt for a 4-year warranty for an extra fee if you want some added peace of mind. The motor and display are made by Bafang, a well-known name in the e-bike world, which bodes well for long-term reliability, though time will tell how everything holds up.
Overall, the motor and battery setup on the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 offers a powerful, controlled ride that’s both impressive and practical, especially if you’re mindful of how the power is delivered and used.
Components
The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is built around a solid 6061 aluminum frame, giving it a durable yet lightweight foundation. Up front, you have the option of the standard RST Guide fork with 75mm of travel, or you can opt for the upgraded Wren Sports inverted air fork, which we tested and found to be a nice addition with its positive and negative air chambers. The seat post is a standard 28.6mm with a quick-release clamp for easy adjustments, while the saddle is wide and spring-supported—comfortable, but the look is a bit mismatched with the bike’s otherwise aggressive stance.
The drivetrain is centered around a Shimano Alivio 9-speed setup, paired with a 9-speed 11-34t cassette and a 44t chainring, which together offer a solid range for most riding conditions. The shifters are equipped with motor cutoff sensors to prevent shifting under load, which is a smart move to help preserve the drivetrain. The 27.5″ rims are fitted with Chaoyang 27.5×3″ tires that strike a nice balance between grip and speed; they’re wide enough for confidence on various terrains without being overly sluggish or loud.
For braking, the standard setup includes Liipro E500 quad-piston hydraulic brakes with 180mm rotors, but we tested the upgraded Magura MT5e 4-pistons with 203mm rotors, which felt powerful and responsive. The adjustable brake levers with integrated motor cutoffs add a layer of safety and control, particularly at higher speeds.
The bike also features a Bafang Dpc-18 display and comes with a thumb throttle for added convenience. The standard integrated headlight is 100 lumens, but we had the 2000-lumen upgrade, which offered impressive illumination both for visibility and seeing far down the road or trail. The practical perks like front and rear fenders, a kickstand, and a rear rack make the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 a versatile choice, ready for both commuting and off-road adventures.
Overall, the components on this bike give a fair balance of performance, comfort, and durability.
Screen / User Interface / App
The Bafang Dpc-18 display on the Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is a solid setup, offering a clear and easy-to-read full-color interface that’s centrally mounted on the handlebar. The basic home screen gives you all the essential riding data at a glance—time, battery level, speed, trip odometer, PAS level, riding mode, and wattage output—so you’re always informed about your ride without unnecessary clutter.
Accessing the advanced settings is straightforward, just a quick double-tap on the Mode button, and you’re in. Here, you can tweak a variety of settings. You can adjust the unit of measurement, change the display brightness, or set the auto-off timer. It also allows you to switch between Eco and Sport modes by default, customize the power output view style, and manage more technical aspects like batteries’ numerical ‘State-of-Charge’ (SOC) view, trip reset, or even change the wheel size.
There’s also the ability to limit or change the max speed, which is useful depending on where you’re riding or if you’re letting kids or friends try the bike for the first time. You can adjust the light sensitivity for the auto headlight, restore factory settings if needed, and even set or change passwords for booting up and starting the bike—adding a layer of security. Plus, it logs error codes, which can be handy if troubleshooting ever becomes necessary.
Overall, the Bafang Dpc-18 display is well-thought-out, offering a good mix of basic data and deeper customization options, all while being easy to navigate. It’s functional and straightforward, which is exactly what you want when you’re out on a ride.
Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 Model Options
The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 has a staggering number of decisions to make at the time of purchase. You can start by choosing between two frame styles: Step-Through or Step-Over, with sizing options of Medium (for riders 5’6” and above) and Large (for those 5’10” and above). The bike comes in several standard colors like Emerald Green, Satin Black, Azure Blue, Black Cherry, and Pearl White. However, if you’re looking for something more unique, there’s an upgrade option with 188 additional colors available for $300. The max payload of the bike is 380 lbs, giving room for extra gear on your rides.
The bike comes with a standard 2-year warranty, but you can extend it to 4 years for an additional $395 if you want extra peace of mind. When it comes to wheels, you have the choice between 26×4 tires, which are best for sand, snow, or gravel, and 26×5.3 tires, better suited for pavement or groomed trails. You’ll also need to decide on the motor’s power output—whether to have it limited to 20 MPH or unlocked for unrestricted speeds.
Seat post options include the standard version or upgrades like the CaneCreek Thudbuster (available in short or long travel) and the TransX Anti-Shock QL Suspension. For lighting, you can stick with the standard 100-lumen LED light or go for the Armageddon Light, which cranks up the brightness to 2000 lumens. The suspension fork options range from the standard RST Guide with 75mm travel to more advanced choices like the Wren Sports Inverted 110mm or 150mm, and even the 100mm Travel Manitou Mastodon Comp Fork.
You also have choices when it comes to the rear hub (standard or Wren Star Ratchet) and handlebars (standard flat bar or the optional Biktrix A-Bar). These options allow you to build a bike that’s truly customized to your riding style and the environments you’ll be riding in.
However, it’s worth noting that the sheer number of options can feel overwhelming, especially considering there are already 23 different Juggernaut models available, each with its own variations. This level of customization might be a bit much for some consumers, making the selection process more complex than it needs to be.
As for accessories, the bike comes with a free additional range-extending battery, which is a great bonus. Optional accessories include a front cargo basket (available in regular or large sizes), roll-top waterproof pannier bags, a Viking Gold 90 chain lock, a SENA Smart Helmet with Bluetooth, a Promend Extra-Wide Comfort Saddle, a cell phone mount, and a bell. These options give you the ability to further customize your ride, adding practicality and convenience based on your needs.
Is The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 Worth Buying?
The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is an impressive e-bike that delivers on power, customization, and versatility. With its robust 1000W motor and thoughtful component choices, it’s clear that this bike is designed to handle a variety of terrains and riding conditions with ease. Whether you’re looking for speed, comfort, or the ability to tweak and personalize your ride, the Ultra Duo 4 offers a lot to like.
However, the extensive customization options, while a strength, can also be a bit overwhelming. With so many different models and configurations to choose from, it’s easy to get lost in the details, making the buying process more complex than it perhaps needs to be. A bit of streamlining could go a long way in making this bike more accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, the measured power delivery, while beneficial for component longevity, might not meet everyone’s expectations if they’re looking for instant acceleration from such a powerfully spec’d motor.
Pros
- The power on this bike is like nothing I’ve experienced on any other e-bike I’ve reviewed—it’s truly impressive. The speed and torque deliver a ride that stands out in a big way.
- The customization options are extensive, allowing you to tailor the bike as mild or as wild as you want, with upgrades available from top brands like Wren Sports and Cane Creek.
- The paint color options are almost limitless, with four free choices and an additional 180 upgrade options, giving you a truly personalized bike.
- With a 380 lb max payload and a standard rear rack, this bike has plenty of cargo capacity, making it an ideal choice for adventure rides.
- The inclusion of a free range-extending battery helps address potential range concerns, adding more practicality to the bike.
Cons
- The sheer number of ‘Juggernaut’ models on the brand’s website, along with the various upgrade options within each, can be overwhelming for consumers trying to make a decision.
- At 94 lbs, this bike has some heft, something to keep in mind if you lift your bike often.
- The drivetrain seems to be ill-equipped for the power and torque of the 1000W Mid-Drive motor, in 2 bikes we tested, the chain would often slip over gear teeth.
That said, once you understand the bike’s design intentions and get accustomed to how it rides, the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 is a fantastic choice. It’s fast, capable, and comfortable—making it a super-fun to ride whether you’re commuting, hitting the trails, or just enjoying a day out. If you’re in the market for an e-bike that balances some serious power with everyday practicality and lots of upgrade options, the Juggernaut Ultra Duo 4 deserves your consideration.

A bike that’s not legally an ebike and therefore not allowed on any public lands unless on a motorized use trail once it’s registered and in legal mechanical condition! Good job, Canada!
