CANYON does all of their design and engineering at their HQ in Koblenz, Germany. They offer a limited 6-year warranty on all of their bikes and have even designed their own shipping boxes to ensure their bikes arrive in the condition they left the warehouse, as they sell exclusively direct to consumer. The company began as a parts supplier in 1985. Their first branded model rolled onto the scene in Europe in 1996 and they moved into manufacturing and direct sales in 2001 as they hired Hans Christian Smolik as lead designer. They received the European Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and iF Product Design Award in 2007. Their first electric bike, called the Spectral:ON, was launched in 2018 and they have expanded the line in years since.
