Cero was started in Los Angeles, California in 2014 by Kiyoshi Iwai. He had been living in LA for 20 years and had seen exponentially rising traffic and congestion. He and his wife began brainstorming around the Mamachari style bicycles from Japan and wondered whether they could make an assisted version for the US.
